For beginner and advanced

Learn to work with classic techniques, modern materials and contemporary approaches. The method is ideally suited for realistic work: still lifes and flowers, portraits and landscapes.

Realistic painting is partly about technique. Use of oil paint and glaze. Underpainting with acrylic. Highlight and shadow. Contrast and complementarity. Mixing and material knowledge. Finishing and varnishing.
​
At least as important is learning to look carefully. Observe and analyze. The play of light and shadow. A good composition. How all parts relate to each other. And how to faithfully reproduce all that.

I take you step by step through the process from sketch to end result at your own pace. Realistic painting is depicting reality as you see it, as accurately as possible. And with your own recognisable style. From simple beginnings to real painting

As a beginner you start with a simpel subject. This way With this you master the principles of material knowledge, color and mixing, underpainting and working in layers, etc. Have you mastered that a bit or have you mastered it all already? Then we will work with your own subject: a still life, portrait or landscape.

You not only improve your use of materials and working method, but you also learn to look. What is there really to see and how do you translate that into your painting? How do you add depth and how do you achieve the right perspective? You never stop learning with painting. Painting can always be better, more striking, more successful. We can be realistic in that too. Learning to paint is never finished.

Practical information
The painting lessons are given on Monday afternoons from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, on Tuesdays from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. There are no lessons during school holidays (central Netherlands) and on public holidays. The group consists of a maximum of 6 people. It costs €325 per 10 lessons. A full course consists of 30 lessons. All materials are included.

We then schedule an introductory meeting, especially to coordinate expectations.
